How Genuine Self-awareness Change My Game?

Image
It's been a year since I realize I was missing this piece. The very learning I needed to acquire to survive. It was so naïve of me, somewhat a pity to not know deeply its meaning. I have been through shitty times in the middle of my med school years and   knowing about this now made me think that I was really on my edge during those dark times; and I wasn't sure how I went through it given that I was so helpless. Nevertheless, genuine self-awareness was the fruit of that storm. Self-awareness is so over-rated. We've been taught in school or by motivational writers/speakers on knowing ourselves - our strengths and weaknesses. The things that we want and we don't want, even our insecurities - everything about us in and out encompasses a genuine self-awareness. But the thing is, on self-growth, being aware doesn't end there. We often overlook the very essential element that comes with it and that is its importance. So why do we need to know the importance of being self...

How I've Been Catching Up With Criticism

Image
One thing that I'm really grateful for last year despite the pandemic is learning how to take care of myself. Self care is an overrated topic. It's everywhere in the social media. Everyone has been talking about it, posting quotations and all sorts but not for a moment did I come in realization how it actually works and I have been missing it all these years. Just a side note: I am still, up until now, learning how to take care of myself. This tip is so far what I have been working on from time to time last year. There are times it slips out of my consciousness, but growth is not a linear process as they said. Nonetheless, this tip helped me a lot and hopefully to you as well. "Be the voice for ourselves." This was one of the best advice I got from Dr. Julie Smith ( @drjuliesmith ), a therapist, in her Tiktok videos. If you're like me having trouble in accepting or taking in criticism, being bullied or labeled in any sort, or embarrassed in front of people, becomi...

Getting Ready for College: Points to Remember

Image
Hello everyone! Back to school season is fast approaching! I don't know if this applies to everyone, but in our place, some schools starts their school year in August!  So for this post, with everything that I had experienced in my college years/university life, I'll share to you few things that I learned in getting ready for your incoming college life. This is also applicable to everyone who is now in their college years. Without further ado, here are few points to remember when you're getting ready for college. 🌼 College is a big deal! As soon as you graduate in high school, there is this common dilemma you face about not knowing what to do in life一 what you want as a profession or job, etc.  Because of this dilemma, usually some high school graduates tend to go with the flow without reflecting what it means to enter college and be a college student. As a consequence, they will feel overwhelmed and surprise as they step into a new chapter.  And I thin...

Welcoming June

Hold up! I have to ask first for a bit of your time to answer my poll on the sidebar. That is just a quick survey so yeah, will highly appreciate it. T hank you! 😊 A friend of mine once said that I am an optimistic person. For her, I always find the bright side of life even if I'm already carrying the weight of the world. The truth is I don't see that kind of attitude on myself.  Hmm... let me tell you something When I'm with everybody, I always keep my positivity up. I don't know why, but, I know it's the right thing to do. And I want that my friends would be reminded of that.  But, here's the thing When I am on my own and problems arise, I cannot even think of the bright side. I sulk on my comfort zone and try to reflect on my mistakes and situation. I'll began to have anxiety attack and overthink matters so deeply.  When will I ever learn to be optimistic FOR REAL? I know that to smile despite of. . .to be hopeful despite of...

Tips on Overcoming Social Anxiety

Image
According to Google, social anxiety is the fear of interaction with other people that brings on self-conciousness , feelings of negatively judged and evaluated, as a result, leads to avoidance . I am guilty of this. I think being strong and confident of yourself are one of the ways to become a better person. But oftentimes, becoming such is hindered because of your anxieties.  I have difficulty in overcoming anxiety. It's not easy, seriously. Over the times, I had gathered these few tips that I got from my own experiences. The first thing I do to overcome it is I condition my mind . The mind is the one who controls of what you should feel, think, and do. I let myself be aware, every time I have anxiety attack or before I go out the house, that I have the tendency to become anxious today or I tell myself "you are being anxious again". This is actually very helpful to me as it helps me relax and stay calm during hard situations. Because being aware will make you open...

A penny saved is a penny earned

Image
At this very moment, I pledge my heart, my soul, and my dignity to truly save 50% of my allowance and put it on a very secured piggy bank. My savings will be my happiness as it will be used to buy any things that I ever dreamed to have. Starting on this month until September 2016, I should have a total savings of Php 10,000.00. Total savings planned every month should be followed.  Any reason that the rule is disregard, the total savings for the next month will increase to compensate for the reduction.   sgd Fiona Hi everyone! As you can see I just have my pledge above. I am actually serious about it. I have notice that I have a lot of things that I want to own ever since but I never have them. For the past years, I save poorly because I have no exact or formal plans on my goal. So, this time I created a savings plan! Hopefully I can keep this up and this is actually a basic savings plans, not a very professional one though. Disclaimer: I am not very kn...

Me versus Me

Being sensitive is almost like a psychological disorder. Without you noticing it, it deeply penetrates the innermost part of your soul, invading the crucial parts of your being which are ego, conscience, and feelings, etc. It will stay there for so long even if you are physically healed. Even if you know you are okay.  Experiences and situations are the driving force of your sensitivity. When we see, hear, get, or feel bad moments it will be like a bacteria that goes inside your system and destroys your normal bodily functions slowly by slowly, without you noticing it. This is exactly true based on an experience.  Until one day, basic human necessities such as instincts, critical thinking, and skills are affected then you came to realize that your sensitive personality is already wrecking your whole reasoning.  This is quite crucial especially to people who take other people's judgement seriously. This type of people likely pleases others in order to stay a...
